Facility Planning Update From Dr. Thomas Crabtree, THD Board Chair
The following is an update from Dr. Crabtree to the staff of the Telluride Regional Medical Center.
Folks /
Last week we found out that the clinic site we currently occupy may continue to be an option past 2032. For years we have been told that the owners had different plans for the property and that we would need to move. As such, plans progressed to secure the Society Turn property -which we have - and mature plans for a complete relocation there in a few years.
What changed? In short, the owners of the property told us that instead of ending the lease as planned they are now open to discussing our continuing use of the property in some fashion for decades to come. This potentially presents a number of new options and opportunities as we continue to refine our plans. This conversation just started. There are obviously a number of questions to answer.
I write this to honor the board's promise to keep you all informed. You know as much as we do at this time. We will get more information from the owners, canvas all the stakeholders (yourselves included) about how we might best use the property, look at the costs associated with a remodel, and decide if it makes sense to proceed with both sites in some fashion or proceed with the plan to relocate all services to Society Turn. At the end of the day, one task is paramount. We must ensure that whatever we decide produces a construct that serves our community, our staff and our patients best.
We will have another update within a few weeks. Thanks for all you do.
Thomas Crabtree, MD FACS, Board Chair
