We believe that access to your own health information should be simple. That's why our laboratory now offers Direct Access Testing, providing the ability for established TRMC patients to order select lab tests themselves, without waiting for a physician's order or insurance authorization. 

Living in a mountain community means access to care can feel limited. Direct Access Testing is our way of closing that gap, giving every established TRMC patient the ability to stay proactive about their health.

Our laboratory, right here in Telluride, delivers the same high-quality, accurate results your doctor relies on, now available directly to you. 

Who is eligible? 

Direct Access Testing is designed for patients who already have an active care relationship with TRMC. To qualify, you must meet all three of the following criteria: 

• 18 years of age or older: Direct Access Testing is available to adult patients only. Minors are not eligible at this time. 

• An active primary care provider at TRMC: You must have a listed primary care provider (PCP) within our practice. If you're not yet established with a TRMC provider, we can help you get connected. 

• An annual wellness visit within the past two years: You must have had an annual visit with your TRMC primary care provider within the last 24 months. This ensures your care team has a current understanding of your health.

These eligibility requirements exist because we believe the best lab results are ones reviewed in the context of an ongoing care relationship. Having an active provider and a recent visit means your results won't exist in a vacuum, your care team knows your history and can help you interpret what your numbers mean. 

What tests are available? 

We offer a growing menu of direct-access tests covering the most commonly requested panels and screenings: 

• Metabolic panels - Basic & comprehensive metabolic, kidney & liver function 

• Lipid panel - Cholesterol, HDL, LDL, triglycerides 

• Blood glucose & HbA1c - Fasting glucose and 3-month average blood sugar 

• Complete blood count - Red & white cells, hemoglobin, platelets 

• Thyroid function - TSH, Free T3 and T4 

• Vitamin & mineral levels - Vitamin D, B12, iron, ferritin

How it works 

1. Confirm your eligibility. Check that you meet all three requirements: age 18+, an active TRMC primary care provider, and an annual visit within the past two years. Not sure? Call us and we'll check. 

1. Choose your test. Browse our available test menu online or call our team. We'll help you identify the right panel for your goals. 

1. Pay at the time of service. Direct Access Testing is offered at transparent, affordable cash-pay pricing. We'll provide a full cost estimate before you come in. 

1. Come to our lab. Schedule an appointment at the TRMC Laboratory. Most draws take just a few minutes. 

1. Receive your results. Results are delivered securely through our patient portal, typically within 2 to 7 days, depending on the test. You'll have full access to your numbers as soon as they are available.  

1. Follow up as needed. If your results suggest something worth discussing, your primary care provider at TRMC is already part of your care team and ready to help.
