Dr. Crabtree is a practicing surgeon and entrepreneur with a 35-year track record delivering care across the globe. He retired as a Colonel from the U.S. Army after 24 years. He served as a trauma and plastic and reconstructive surgeon in domestic, international, and combat settings. After leaving the service Dr Crabtree worked with Kaiser Permanente and also had a private plastic surgery practice in Kailua, Hawaii and now in Telluride Colorado. He also started a successful Washington DC based company - AMI Expeditionary Healthcare (www.ami.health) - that provides healthcare solutions to governments, international organizations, and the private sector in challenging settings across the world.
Dr. Crabtree and AMI have built an extensive network of private clinics across Africa and the Middle East. He led large-scale AMI efforts running multiple USAID-supported Ebola Treatment Units across Western Africa and served as a Clinical Director of three World Health Organization (WHO) Trauma and Maternity Hospitals in Mosul following the defeat of ISIS. During COVID he led the AMI clinicians in their worldwide effort to care for, test and vaccinate patients and populations. At home, AMI provides essential healthcare staffing and management for a number of States, Tribal Organizations and Federal agencies to include the Departments of Homeland Security, Defense, the VA and Health and Human Services.
Dr. Crabtree is a graduate of Harvard, Stanford, and Dartmouth. He completed his general surgery training in San Francisco, CA and Tucson, AZ and his plastic surgery training in Washington D.C. and Baltimore, MD.
